Running

Been working out on the elliptical since the 3rd wk. of January, slowing building the distance & amount of time I can go . Have kept 8 pounds off. Started running at the track last week 5/13 one lap 1/4mile. 5/14 walked a lap, ran a lap, walked a lap, ran a lap, walked a lap -ran 1/2 mile total! No extreme shin splints-no extreme out of breath problems. Ran again today like last time 1/2 mile w/walking. Felt good to be able to run-haven't really been able to do this for so long -working on the elliptical has so helped me & condition my body, but running on the track really inspires you to eat less, because you are more aware of all the flab that is jiggling! Ha! Well, keep on keeping on! Eat less, live more! Don't give up, it takes lots of effort, time & consistency to build muscle mass & increase your metabolism to finally shed those extra unneeded pounds. Hello to less of me!

Earth Hour 2010

Please join fellow Allen Countians in a fun event designed to make everyone aware of the need for conservation.
On Saturday, March 27 we will meet on the Iola Square for Earth Hour 2010.  At 8:30 PM all lights around the square will be turned off in an effort to conserve energy.  Lights will remain off until 9:30 PM.  One of the many events planned during this hour is a flashlight walk around the square.
This will be an opportunity to get some exercise, visit with friends, and enjoy music and candlelight.  Bring your family and friends and don't forget to bring your FLASHLIGHTS!
Check out Earth Hour 2010 on the web at http://www.earthhour.org.

Conclusion...not

THANK YOU...for all the efforts Thrive, Tom, my husband (he was on board with Melt Down II), co-workers that participated and encouraged each other, and reading the blogs of encouragment from this website. Sunny, to you, and those in the THRIVE office, do a tremendous job with words of encouragement, organizing activities, etc., which is greatly appreciated. I was very stunned to find out I came in third (I happen to be out of state) and it is a motivational factor to continue. Again, thank you for all the efforts and I look forward to next year!

Get Fun

I am just giving a Ditto to Wilma's blog on the line dancing, health and fitness classes presented by Roger, and the food classes I was able to attend. GREAT! Also, Sonny for all her efforts to get this going and coordinate every thing. We had a great time with Damaris and wish she could get a class started on a regular basis. Thanks to all involved.

Thank You Damaris

Damaris, thank you so much for leading/teaching the Tuesday and Thursday line dancing classes. It was fun and great exercise and I appreciate the time and effort you gave. Thanks much!!!!!!

Thank You

Thank you to whoever put the Meltdown" package of classes together (was that you Sunny?). There was a great mix of health, nutrition and exercise options. My only complaint is that with multiple choices on some evenings I couldn't attend them all. Also, thanks to "teachers".

Food Pantry

The pounds haven't been melting down like I had hoped. If, at time of weigh-in, I have reached the 5% loss I will give $10 to the food pantry.

Food for food pantries

I will gladly plan bring in 10+ lbs of food  to match the weight loss I've achieved for the finale.  I hope this is something that many of our participants feel is a worthwhile means of giving back to our community.

Meltdown Finale

If you have had a good time during the Allen County Meltdown II
if you're feeling better than you felt January 1 this year due to healthier eating choices and added physical activity
If you've made new friends through the events offered through the ACMII
If you've lost weight and improved your health because of the programs offered or encouragement from friends participating with you in the ACMII
Please make a banner, flag or poster to bring to the finale.  We'd love to see your excitement and positive attitudes about your personal experiences during the Meltdown.  Let's show our colors at our final celebration!

family fun night

I am having a good time going to the classes. I would have gone tonight if I knew what was going on in Moran. Has it been cancelled? No information posted.
