Moran Walking Clubs

We have 2 new walking clubs in Moran.  If you'd like to walk with someone in Moran the following options are available:
Connie McWhirter - Meet on the East side of the High School on Thursdays at 5:30.
Mike and Jamie Stodgell - Monday - Wednesday 5:00 PM.  Meet in the school parking lot.

Why do I exercise?

I was thinking today about my eating habits and that in turn got me thinking of my exercise habits. Why am I exercising? Hopefully, it is to truly be a better steward of this body God gave me. I am overweight & my cholesterol is too high & I have a family history of heart disease. I have lowered my cholesterol & triglyceride numbers over the past 2 years with exercise & better diet/food, not having to use medicine for which I am thankful. But let's be honest. I can justify that bowl of ice cream or bowl of cereal for a snack when I know I have exercised that day. But is that really helping me lose weight or just stay the same? I went down to the Fieldhouse (for my 1st time) yesterday & worked for 11 minutes on the elliptical to burn 100 calories. What we often eat in the form of a snack is more than 100 calories! Yes, even my cappuccino! So if I don't change my eating habits (better portion control, healthier snacks, etc) I will be working hard, but not losing the weight for better lifestyle & health reasons. My prayer today is to mindful of what goes in my mouth. We as Americans can be such gluttons! Yes, I need to exercise more.

Last night's line dancing

Lots of people are showing up. We went over four line dances last night and people are really getting it down. There will be a definite schedule from now on with plenty of opportunities to learn some fun stuff. We've learned 5 dances and hope to learn that many more before the meltdown is through. You could be line dance masters before it is all over!!!! If you have heard of one or seen one that you might want to try to learn, I am happy to look it up and figure it out before I see you next. Blog it!!

Hey there! If anyone has the Alan Jackson "Good times" song or the Boot Scoot Boogie by Brooks and Dunn, bring it to class tonight. Hope to see you. So far, we have learned the Electric Slide, Good times, Boot Scoot Boogie, Redneck Woman, and the Cupid Shuffle. We are getting some good dancers out there!

Healthy Soup Cooking Class for tonight ***CANCELED***

Due to a conflict with the location for tonight's cooking class, it has been CANCELED. This class will be rescheduled for a later date. Watch the website for date, location and time. Join in the line dancing in Humboldt instead!

If anyone is interested in coming to the special topic at curves on thursday please call 620-365-2711 and have one of the fitness techs sign you up. We need a RSVP so we have enough copies of the hand out for everyone. YOu don't have to be a member, it isn't just for woman, and it is FREE. We have been doing monthly classes for over a year now and families have been seeing great results. The weigh management classes are always free to whomever wants to live healthier, we can help show you how. Hope to see you tomorrow. Classes are taught by a RD.

I am loving line dancing. Thank you to everyone who is out there sweating with me. Hope to see a lot of you on Thursday. We have a much bigger place to dance now. Let's fill it up!!!

Line Dancing

Line dancing was fun again last night!!! Hope to see more people on Thursday night, though....7pm Humboldt Elementary Gym. Left on Central off the old highway. Use the door by the bike racks.

Holy cow!

Holy Cow. it is so hard to loose the weight. When I weighed myself the second time I had gained a pound. I have been eating so much better. No snacks after everyone has gone to bed. I made cabbage soup and ate it for days. I have been not eating red meat and my only carbs have been whole grains and limited to 3 slices of bread daily. I haven't been able to bring myself to exercise, yet. I know that is the key. I have been making and effort to be much more active each day, but, I haven't broken a sweat so far. I know sweating is the key. I will try harder to make that a part of my daily routine.
